Will it finally happen?

Mirra Greece is set to open at the end of summer 2026 🤞🏼.

We’ve been working on this plan for almost three years now, but it has lived in our heads for at least fifteen. Inspired by Bert’s mother, who lived on Crete for thirty years, we always dreamed of creating a small, characterful hospitality spot in Greece. A micro-resort where privacy and inspiration come first.

Mirra will be exactly that: six mirror cabins tucked into a hillside near Porto Heli (Peloponnese), overlooking the Argolic Gulf. A place where privacy isn’t a luxury but the standard. A resort built around “disconnect to connect”, creativity and genuine experience.

The road to get here has been… intense (understatement). Finding land, learning a new culture, learning the language (after 9 months of lessons I can manage about five sentences, sigh), challenging the status quo of Greek hospitality, it all raised quite a few eyebrows.

There were moments when we almost gave up: yet another plot that turned out not to be buildable, waiting ten weeks for a single certificate, or the moment we had to part ways (again) with an architect because we didn’t feel that guest experience was priority in the design.

What keeps us going isn’t just our dream or our belief in this micro-resort. It’s also the Greeks themselves. Truly extraordinary people. As challenging as communication can sometimes be, as different (and less efficient ) as things sometimes are, we’re learning so much from them.

The first time we sat with a lawyer who spent three and a half hours chatting about life before getting down to business, we were sweating bullets (three hours = massive invoice, we thought). But the bill was peanuts. It’s simply their way of doing business: get to know the person first, then move on to the formalities.

And above all: the warmth of the Greek people. It seems endless. I don’t know any country or city where, within one month of moving, I had already barbecued, shared drinks, baked cookies and played records with all the neighbours. That warm, effortless hospitality inspires how we want to treat our guests, too.

It’s been quite a journey these past years. My goodness. But we kept stubbornly holding on to what matters to us. No greenwashing — just real sustainability: minimal impact on the land, a garden filled only with native, drought-tolerant plants (already giving our builder headaches). An honesty shop where guests help themselves to drinks and snacks without supervision (a concept that’s hard to grasp here, as trust can be complicated in Greece).

Mirra will be the first cabin resort in Greece to stay open (nearly) all year round — because every season here is worth experiencing. Truly. It’s late November and 22 degrees: perfect hiking weather, and we’re still swimming daily.

In the shoulder seasons we’ll host retreats and events. Not only the classic wellness retreats. Alongside yoga we’re thinking of creative writing weeks, culinary weeks with local Greek produce, hiking and even rock climbing. Not because it’s “hip”, but because it gives us — and hopefully our guests — energy and inspiration.

We’re in a good place now. If all goes well, we’ll open in August 2026. I hardly dare say it out loud, but this timeline finally feels achievable.
